California Texas Longhorns
History of Texas Longhorns!
Why Texas Longhorns? Easy keeping, foraging, thrifty cattle that are fun and profitable to breed, raise, show and sell. Texas Longhorns fatten on less feed than European breeds (Angus and Hereford), are well adapted to California's climate, and will eat brush and thistles other breeds won't touch. Intelligent and calm when handled well, easy birthing and tremendous maternal instincts.
CATLB
Your Club for Texas longhorns
Our organization was formed to recognize and protect the unique heritage of this magnificent American breed of cattle. We also want to promote public awareness of its traits here in California. To accomplish this, we sponsor a World Qualifier show for the TLBAA at the California State Fair as well as encourage our member breeders to exhibit their cattle in other shows and fairs.
Shows and meetings
California Association of Texas Longhorn Breeders sponsors at least one statewide show each year as well as several other gatherings where members can get together socially and enjoy their common interest in these magnificent purebred animals.
• The annual world qualifying show is typically held in Sacramento, California during the California State Fair on the Cal Expo Fairground.
California Association of Texas Longhorn Breeders holds an annual meeting every year for the group to meet and discuss CATLB business, establish policies and explore educational opportunities.
